Mason Jar Salad

 Mason Jar Salad

Ingredients:
- 4 cups fresh spinach leaves
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 large tomato, diced
- 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced
- 8 ounces cooked ham, diced
- 1 cup pineapple chunks (fresh or canned)
- 1 cup fresh sprouts (e.g., alfalfa or broccoli sprouts)
- 2 large carrots, Cubed
- 1/2 cup dressing of your choice (e.g., balsamic vinaigrette, honey mustard, or Italian dressing)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the ingredients: Wash the spinach leaves, red onion, tomato, cucumber, and sprouts thoroughly. Dice the ham into small pieces. If using canned pineapple, drain the juice. Peel and grate the carrots.

2. Assemble the mason jars: You'll need 4 quart-sized mason jars. Begin by layering the ingredients in each jar in the following order:
   a. Start with the dressing: Pour about 2 tablespoons of dressing into the bottom of each jar.
   b. Add the red onion slices: Distribute the thinly sliced red onions evenly among the jars.
   c. Layer the tomatoes: Add the diced tomatoes on top of the onions.
   d. Add the cucumber slices: Place the cucumber slices on top of the tomatoes.
   e. Layer the ham and pineapple: Add a layer of diced ham followed by the pineapple chunks.
   f. Add the sprouts: Distribute the fresh sprouts evenly among the jars.
   g. Top it off with spinach: Finally, pack the fresh spinach leaves on top, filling the jar to the brim.

3. Seal and store: Carefully seal each mason jar with its lid. Store the prepared salads in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. The dressing at the bottom will keep the greens fresh and prevent them from getting soggy.

4. Serving the salad: When you're ready to enjoy your mason jar salad, simply shake the jar to distribute the dressing evenly, or you can pour the contents into a large bowl and toss the ingredients together before serving.

5. Optional variations: Feel free to customize this salad with your favorite ingredients or add nuts, seeds, cheese, or other veggies to suit your taste preferences.
